This year the North Fork Chapter is returning to the Elk Expo (July 29 -30)  at the Elk Country Visitor Center in Benezette, PA.

Our ever popular Atlatl Throw is held in memory of George Miller one of Pennsylvania's best known master of the atlatl.

This type of spear launcher was used in Pennsylvania for at least 10,000 years by Native Americans before the invention of the bow and arrow sometime around 900 AD.

This is not a sanctioned atlatl event and we will be only utilizing our infamous mastodon target. Individuals of all ages are invited to try their hand and our instructors are there to help you learn every step of the way.

The chapter will also have a display of prehistoric artifacts from western Pennsylvania.   Be Sure to stop by  on Saturday 8am – 7pm and Sunday 8am – 4pm.

Chapter members are encouraged to help one or both days.  Note that the grounds open at 8am and guests will start arriving at that time.)  If you want to park on the hilltop near the event you MUST be there before 7:30 AM.  Anyone  arriving after that time will need to park in the designated areas in Benezette and shuttle to the top of the hill on the buses ($5).  If you plan to leave before closing, it will be best to use the shuttle in order to ensure that you will be able to get your vehicle out.

Tear Down Time: Begins at 4pm on Sunday. Anyone wishing to stay overnight  at the site is permitted to utilize a tent but no campfires etc are permitted on site. There are restroom facilities scattered over the event area.
